l’LONGO NOUS AIMONS
51-year old Jeannie Longo motored to her 57th national title yesterday, winning the French national TIme Trial in Chantonnay. The feisty Madame Longo, regularly beating fields of women half her age, can claim the most career victories of any cyclist in history (over 900!). Her list of titles include: an Olympic gold medal, 2 silvers, 3 Tour de France wins, 38 world records, 57 national titles and 13 world titles. More importantly, her team kits have always been most stylish. Le style et la victoire de la Jeannie!

A huge hit in France, the Cinebox, or Scopitone, was a projector of short song films – most charming precursors to music videos – constructed from surplus WW2 airplane parts. HEARTING HINAULT
The interviewer, trying to inject a modicum of reason: “But isn’t it necessary to attack intelligently?” Hinault, having none of that: “There is nothing but brute force that can win a race.” The Badger’s cantankerous declarations have been one of the most entertaining elements of the 09 Tour. (We dare to imagine a Hinault / LeMond Blunt-Speaking-Bordering-On-Crazy-Old-Campaigner double billing. Sweatbands mandatory.)
